Obiettivi formativi
Questo anno il corso tratta della fase finale del regno ittita; dopo una presentazione dei momenti principali della storia ittita si analizzeranno le fonti e i momenti più significativi del regno del re Tuthaliya IV.
Sarà impartito un corso di base di lingua ittita e uno di scrittura cuneiforme. Con il supporto del docente verranno traslitterati e tradotti testi del tempo di Tuthaliya IV.
This year the course deals with the late period of the history of the Hittite kingdom. After e presentaion of the most significant events of the Hittite history, we will analize the main sources and aspects of the reign of Tuthaliya IV.
A basic course of the Hittite language will also the taught. Morevore the cuneiform writing will also be studied. With the support of the teacher students will translate passages of texts from the time of Tuthaliya IV.

Coloro che seguiranno il corso dovranno conoscere la storia politica, sociale e culturale ittita, Il processo di apprendimento della scrittura cuneiforme e della lingua hurrita sarà graduale e richiede la partecipazione attiva di coloro che seguono il corso, dal momento che dovranno esercitarsi in classe traslitterando e traducendo i brani scelti insieme al docente.
I testi scelti hanno una valenza storica importante per la conoscenza della fase finale del regno ittita.
Students shall learn the Hittite political, social and cultural history. The activity of learning the cuneiform script and the Hurrian language will be progressive and involves all the students in a real partecipation in class; in fact, students will exercise their linguistic skills by transliterating and translating passagges of Hittite text in class with the support of the teacher.
The chosen texts have a high significance for the knowledge of the last period of the Hittite history.

Modalità di insegnamento
Lezioni frontali. Dopo aver appreso gli aspetti fondamentali della storia ittita, gli studenti inizieranno ad apprendere la lingua ittita e la scrittura cuneiforme e inizieranno a traslitterare e tradurre i testi indicati con l'aiuto del docente.
A coloro che non potranno frequentare le lezioni in presenza sarà assicurata la possibilità di scegliere di fruire del materiale didattico sulla piattaforma moodle e di sostituire la frequenza alle lezioni con lo studio di 5 articoli scelti tra quelli contenuti nel volume Handbook Hittite Empire (2022).
Il docente assicura supporto allo studio e alla preparazione dell'esame attravreso incontri online (le date saranno comunicate negli avvisi dell'insegnamento).
Lectures. After having learnt the main aspects of the Hittite history, all the studentìs will start learning the Hittite language and the cuneiform script, and then they will begin to translate and anaylise the aformementioned texts with the the teacher's support.
Those who are not able to attend face-to-face lectures may access teaching matyerial on the Moodle platform and, instead of attending face-to-face lectures, they shall study 5 essay chosen among those published in the Handbook Hittite Empire (2022).
The teacher will offer his support to study and prepare for the exam with online meetings (dates will be provided in the news section).

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
All'esame coloro che hanno seguito il corso dovranno dimostare di conoscvere la storia ittita e e anche l'acquisita capacità di traslitterare e tradurre almeno un passo di quelli studiati in classe. Il testo verrà inoltre analizzato dal punto di vista storico e politico e lo studente dovrà mostrare di aver acquisito capacità di analisi critica dei documenti antichiThose who attend this course are required knowing the history of Hatti; besides they shall show thir competence in transliterating and translating at least one of the text passages studied in class. Besides, they shall analyse the chosen passage under the historical and political point of vew and, hence, demonstrate to have developed their ability in the critical analysis of the ancient documents.
