Obiettivi formativi
L'insegnamento concorre alla realizzazione degli obiettivi formativi del Corso di Archeologia e Storia antica (magistrale) fornendo alle studentesse e agli studenti gli strumenti di metodo specifici per la comprensione della storia delle donne in età romana (collocazione spazio-temporale degli eventi, linguaggio tecnico, utilizzo delle fonti), dalle origini fino al tardoantico, per sviluppare conoscenze specifiche e capacità di comprensione delle tematiche affrontate, affiancate a una capacità di applicarle e di comunicarle.
The course contributes to the achievement of the educational objectives of the Course of Archeology and Ancient History (magistrale) providing students with specific method tools for understanding the history of women in Rome (spatio-temporal location of events, technical language, use of sources), from the origins to the late antiquity, to develop specific knowledge and understanding skills of the issues addressed, alongside an ability to apply and communicate them.

Alla fine del corso ci si aspetta la padronanza delle seguenti competenze:
CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE: conoscenza e comprensione della storia delle donne e della condizione femminile in età romana; conoscenza delle diverse elaborazioni del pensiero nel campo degli studi di genere, con particolare riferimento al mondo classico.
APPLICARE CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE: capacità di commentare e contestualizzare dal punto di vista storico i documenti letterari ed epigrafici.
AUTONOMIA DI GIUDIZIO: grazie alle competenze acquisite, le studentesse e gli studenti saranno in grado di leggere e contestualizzare fonti che non conoscevano in precedenza; saranno in grado di cogliere la specificità e la rilevanza della Gender History.
ABILITA' COMUNICATIVE: le studentesse e gli studenti acquisiranno una terminologia specifica; saranno in grado di stabilire collegamenti tra fatti storici e discutere fonti letterarie ed epigrafiche.
CAPACITA' DI APPRENDIMENTO: le studentesse e gli studenti saranno in grado di migliorare le proprie capacità di apprendimento con una bibliografia e una sitografia aggiornate.
At the end of the course, students are expected to have acquired the following skills:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: knowledge and understanding of the history of women and the female condition in Rome; knowledge of the different elaborations of thought in the field of gender studies, with particular reference to the classical world.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: students will be able to use the acquired skills for commenting on literature and inscriptions and setting documents in their historical context.
JUDGEMENT AUTONOMY: thanks to the acquired skills, students will be able to read, understand and comment on sources that they did not know yet; students will able to grasp the specificity and relevance of Gender History.
COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS: students will learn a specific terminology; they will be able to connect historical events and discuss sources.
LEARNING SKILLS: students will be able to improve their learning ability with an up-to-date bibliography and sitography.

Lezioni frontali della durata di 36 ore complessive (in aula se sarà possibile, altrimenti a distanza) con l'ausilio di PowerPoint per immagini e riproduzione di testi di autori antichi.
In ragione dell’emergenza sanitaria tuttora in corso è prevista la registrazione di ciascuna lezione per le studentesse e gli studenti impossibilitati a frequentare. Le lezioni registrate verranno rese disponibili sulla piattaforma Moodle a un indirizzo che verrà successivamente comunicato
Frontal lessons lasting a total of 36 hours (in the classroom if possible, otherwise in remote) with the aid of PowerPoint for images and reproduction of texts by ancient authors. Due to the ongoing health emergency, each lesson is scheduled to be recorded for students unable to attend. The recorded lessons will be made available on the Moodle platform at an address that will be communicated later.

Esame orale. Criteri di valutazione: conoscenza degli argomenti affrontati durante il corso e studio della bibliografia indicata; pertinenza e precisione delle risposte; capacità di commentare e contestualizzare le fonti presentate a lezione.
Oral exam. Evaluation criteria: knowledge of the topics, and study of the suggested literature; correctness and completeness of the answers; ability to contextualize and comment on the sources that have been presented in class.

Programma
Il corso sarà dedicato al confronto con temi attuali della storia delle donne a Roma, quali: il ruolo della donna nella famiglia, la condizione giuridica, la partecipazione alla vita politica e sociale, le donne della corte imperiale, il lavoro femminile, la violenza sulle donne. Durante il corso si indagherà la storia delle donne come aspetto fondamentale della storia romana, con la consapevolezza delle specificità della condizione femminile in ciascun periodo e delle trasformazioni compiutesi nell’arco temporale in esame. Il corso sarà introdotto da una serie di lezioni sulla Gender History e sulla costruzione degli stereotipi nelle fonti antiche e in quelle moderne.
The course will be dedicated to the comparison with current themes of the history of women in Rome, such as: the role of women in the family, the legal status, participation in political and social life, women of the imperial court, women's work, violence against women. During the course, the history of women will be investigated as a fundamental aspect of Roman history, with awareness of the specificities of the female condition in each period and of the transformations carried out over the period in question. The course will be introduced by a series of lessons on Gender History and on the construction of stereotypes in ancient and modern sources.

La frequenza è consigliata per il carattere tecnico della disciplina.
L'intero insegnamento è erogato anche in diretta streaming (in aula, se possibile, o in remoto) e la lezione è registrata e condivisa con le/i sole/i iscritte/i al modulo nella piattaforma Moodle. Qualora l'attività in sede sia realizzabile solo in forma limitata, saranno comunque calendarizzati momenti di interazione in presenza.
